Research

Looking into the intra-active relationship with objects in a performative context where the object and I (human) are considered as equal entangled entities with fluid boundaries that affect one another and share/exchange power and agency between the relational dynamic that brings about transformation within the materiality and subjectivity of object and I, respectively.

Ideas/concepts present in my research

  • Contractual relationship between object and my body

  • Porous/fluid boundaries

  • Exchange of agency and power, individually and in the object-human dynamic

  •  Materiality / Subjectivity (external/internal)

  • Objects perform

  • Skin as a site (for the objects to perform upon)

  • Multiple subjectivity/poly perspectives

  • Hospitality

  • Relationality/intra-action

  • Intimacy

  • Active/Passive (state of being of object or my body, mode of creation/performance)

  • Entangled entities/ exchange

  • Transformation/shift

Conditions for the research/work

  • Contact/proximity

  • Durational

  • Endurance

  • Unrehearsed

  • Contractual relationship

  • Active/Passive

  • Object/material

  • My body

  • Situatedness

Questions

  1. What is it to risk the contractual relationship between objects and I?

  2. Can power/agency be balanced between objects and I when in relation with one another?

  3. What if the boundaries of objects and I are porous?

  4. How does an object have/gain agency in a performative context?

  5. What if relations with objects/materials makes visible my subjectivity/inner world?

  6. How do objects act/perform?

  7. How do objects perform on my skin as their site of performance?

  8. How do relations with objects provide potential for multiplicity in my and the objects' subjectivity?

  9. Are my relations with objects hospitable/ How can objects and I have a hospitable relation?

  10. How does intimacy play a role in my relations with objects?

  11. How can I (human) be passive and objects be active in our relationship?

  12. How can active and passive roles be exchanged during a performative encounter with objects?

  13. What if transformation occurs in my body-mind and the object/material through our encounters?
